If you want them to be!
Good Morning My Friends,
It is no secret that LinkedIn is my favorite platform to engage with people on. But like many of the platforms, it can be easy to fall into thinking these are just online connections.
I was reminded this week, that social networks are real networks if you want them to be.
Many people's LinkedIn connections are derived from the following:
People they have connected with in person, and later connected on LinkedIn.
People they connected with on LinkedIn first (for various reasons), some will meet in person - but many more do not.
Each path to connection has its nuances. This week was a reminder to use these platforms as a supplement to aid and support our network.
That reminder came in the form of three reminders just this week alone:
An introduction walk and talk meeting with a successful husband, father, and business owner. It was great to understand the synergies between our minds. This connection was made through our wives but fostered on LinkedIn.
A handshake and book exchange of a local author, with a setup for a future coffee chat. This connection was made from LinkedIn and turned into an in-person meeting.
A video message to a client turned friend thanking them for the additional business that the team worked to earn. This connection happened through your traditional business relationship-building process and turned into both LinkedIn and in-person connectivity.
Call To Action: My Friends, let this serve as a reminder to use social platforms as a supplement to our relationships. Let it help!
DYK: September is Deaf Awareness Month - ALL Month! Plenty of Deaf community members have stories to share. Take it as an opportunity to learn about the community and culture.
Goal Update: I set a certain goal at the beginning of the year for the number of speaking engagements, currently I am approximately 50% of the way there.
