Good Morning My Friends,
We aren't off to the most consistent start this year publishing Mornings with Mickey every week.
TODAY - we are celebrating a birthday. It's a book birthday. One year ago today I released Mom Dad Not Hear: 30 Powerful Stories and Lessons about Leadership, Life, and Love from My Deaf Parents.
And One Year Later, here are a few highlights and a couple of lowlights!
A Few Highlights
Best Seller in multiple categories on Amazon, reaching as high as a 3,114 rank in ALL books on Amazon.
Amazing stories revealed themselves about my parents that I never knew.
Fantastic speaking engagements that presented themselves. Engagements that would not have happened without publishing this book.
Great support from many readers, family, friends, and fellow CODAs.
Seeing my book on bookshelves in bookstores and libraries around the world.
A Couple Lowlights
I did not have my best year in other facets of my life, particularly relationships and health.
Surprisingly, more negative reviews of the book from fellow CODAs than I initially thought would happen.
In simple summary. Am I glad I wrote it? Yes.
Would I have changed a few things around the process to have better balance? Yes.
If you're contemplating writing a book I'd encourage you to do so.
If you'd rather stick to reading books and you haven't read mine, I'd be grateful if you did!
