Moments into Memories: California Edition

Good Morning My Friends!

For those following along from the get-go, you know I do a 'one word' every year and that word for 2024 is MOMENTS. It's a reminder to turn MOMENTS INTO MEMORIES!

Our family did just that with a recent trip to Southern California. Here is a first-timer's take on the trip!

Flight travel: Southwest Airlines was STRONG on both ends of the trip. We're also BIG fans of their companion pass program!

San Diego:

  • Coronado Beach/Hotel Del - neat little spot

  • SD Zoo - a solid zoo, but it was underwhelming considering the hype it gets. We've liked Cincinnati and St. Louis a little bit more.

  • La Jolla - seeing the sea lions was fun, a neat little area.

  • Mission Bay Park - great outdoor park for littles

  • Pacific Beach - great lunch spot and out son fell in the water with his normal clothes on, which consequently turned into his swimsuit for the rest of the time on the beach.

  • Petco Park - Park #16 for me. Fantastic park, lots to do with the kids. A top-five park so far!

  • Little Italy - Friday night dinner, fantastic stop! Thank you for the recommendation Latasha Busalacchi

Huntington Beach:

  • Trivia question: Did you know that if you park after 2pm on Main Street on Tuesdays that your car will get towed? Ask me how I know.

  • Cool experience visiting Surf City, USA (sans the towing experience).

Anaheim:

  • Short and sweet stop

  • Anaheim Angels Stadium - Park #17 for me. Went solo. Stadium needs some TLC and they are definitely hurting from the Ohtani effect, very light crowd.

  • Disneyland California Adventure Park - The kids really enjoyed the Incredicoaster and Cars race track.

Carlsbad:

  • Legoland - The kids were the perfect age for this place. (As a Lego nerd, my father would have loved it).

Weaved into the trip were fantastic micro-moments and it's a trip I hope the family remembers for a lifetime!

As someone who speaks occasionally, every speaker needs a story that hooks right out of the gates. Our son's hook? Telling every teacher he talked to at his open house about our towing experience.

Have a blessed week my friends!
